If you have a love for basketball you may want to start coaching. When you are old enough to coach you can instill that love for basketball to other people and you can teach children the correct form and principles of the sport.

First, you have to make sure that you are working on the fundamentals with your team. You want to be sure that each of the players develops the correct fundamental habits so that they do not have to try to correct them later in their life.

This is very important and you want to be sure that you take it seriously and you encourage each of your players to take it seriously. Do not let your players develop bad habits especially when it comes to the fundamentals of the sport.

In learning the fundamentals it is important that they understand the importance of exercise and how it will benefit them in the long run. Encourage them to exercise on a daily basis even if that is something as simple as running on a treadmill it will help.

While you are teaching them the fundamentals you will have to teach them how to shoot and how to pass. They should also understand the basics principles of the sport so that they are able to work well when they are out on the court.

Take the time that you need to learn how you can teach theme the proper habits and skills early. They should be able to understand the basics of dribbling, shooting, passing and making it up and down the court.

More than likely when you are teaching young children you will not have kids that can three pointers and you will not be able to run complicated plays. You have to be sure that you understand how you are going to work with them at their level. Read the rest of this entry »
